Create Art and Cartoons in Photoshop Elements 4

A Step by Step Guide by Chris Madden

The Unique Graded Contents System

The contents of the book are split into several easily identifiable categories, based on importance and level of complexity, identified by the shaded strip down the side of each page. This allows you to read only the categories relevant to you, without the need to plough through pages and pages that are either too complicated or too basic.

These categories are:

The Absolute Essentials
(No strip)
If you’re totally new to Elements you can concentrate on this category, skipping the other sections until you’re more familiar with the workings of the programme.

Further Basic Skills
(Light gray strip)
Once you’re acquainted with the essentials, this category will make more sense. It completes the knowledge that’s necessary for the basic, competent use of the programme.

Intermediate Information
(Medium gray strip)
You can use Elements satisfactorily without knowing a lot of the information in this category. Read these sections when you’re ready to broaden your skills and increase your enjoyment of the programme.

Advanced Knowledge
(Dark gray strip)
This category deals with aspects of the programme that you can probably manage without knowing about for months, or even years – by which time you’ll be so familiar with the programme that these subjects won’t seem as complex as they would if you came to them as a novice.
